Hoist #1 - so easy wish i had one.

Can lift from diff, bit of balancing required, not ideal.

Pick up from the chassis rail, at the front at the crossmember and at the rear just before the trailing arm pivot. Axle stands max height placed on chassis rails and all is good.

I like a bit of pine style wood with a bit of crush to avoid point loads on funny shape things like diffs. I actually think it gives a bit more bite and security. 50mm is an exaggeration only for extra lift onto stands.

Non subframe cars also lifting under the sill on the reinforced point.

Just been in to SCA to check the jack. Unfortunately, current stock only has 505mm lift.

Yeah I stick my trolley Jack somewhere where the strut connects to the wishbone. Straight up

Saw that today at SCA. The entire trolley is a lot shorter too. Better to check on line for the "proper" 550mm lift toolpro.

Kingchrome do a nice lightweight alloy one same rated capacity and lift height but costs around $600-700 iirc.

Given you are lifting half the car and the car weighs more than 2,200kg, I would have thought it'd be a bit on the light side.

As a guide I purchased a 3 tonne low profile jack that has a final height of 550mm for $210. I like to have some available jacking capacity so my jack is not working at its limits each time I use it. It makes the lifting easier and its life longer.
