I would be going some where else - Jax near me usually charge $20 to remove and $30 to remove and put on one of your own tyres and have it balanced. Plus $5 if you want the old tyres disposed of.

I used to break beads on an RRC by running over the flat tyre with a front tyre and if necessary jumping on it while compressed by the car. Even then it was problematic.

Recent quote from my local BJ was around 300 for 5 rims to swap HT to AT. Just did it myself yesterday with a mate who has a tyre fitting machine, just cost me a couple of beers. Ive now got 5 ATs fitted to rims that have some kerb rash and stone chips, and 5 HT on clean, undamaged rims.

$60 just to remove a tire is a joke, I'd just cut the tire off myself and save $300 - tires aren't worth that much.

I bought an R&R Bead breaker kit years ago and it's still in the shed unused. I just forget to take it with us and luckily have never had any real problems with punctures although we've travelled many kays over dirt roads and tracks.
Now, what do I do with this bit of kit I've never used?
Gumtree here I come and see if I can get a reasonable few bucks for it.

As I indicated before, you need to try somewhere else - that price is over the top.

I guess you didnt borher to read the rest of my post then. Fully agree, that is way too much, thats why i found another solution.

Back to the original question, i would not be trying to remove a tyre from a rim manually.

Yes I did. I was just making a point as others have about the pricing at the places you have been getting prices from.

Anyway you got the job done.

    Tyre from rim

In Australia (for those who don’t know) Tyre is spelt TYRE nor TIRE. If it writes as TIRE, change the dictionary on auto correct to Aussie or British, not default Yankee. Cheers Aussies.
