There is so much misinformation out there on EGR blanking for the 3.0L D4. Is it just done with blanking plates and software updated? Seems that if you do this, you need to remap the ECU?

Seems the blanking plates are freely available on eBay (example here) for minimal cost. What does it entail to delete the EGR valve?

What Dagilmo says is spot on.

I have an MY13 TDV6 and it tows my 3.0T caravan effortlessly, but must confess if someone in Tassy did the tunes (necessary to remove 'puter etc) I'd be tempted to take it to the higher SD horse power and torque, "just because" if for no other reason.

I've not driven an SD so don't know what I am missing........

Electric adjustable seats would be nice I often think, but I don't need satnav as it is too expensive to buy a new CD disc from LR. I had a 2009 RRS and the Cd's cost around $250.
My mobile phone provides a better job and is constantly updated.

    Very happy with my car!!
    Before: Ser 2a LWB, Ser 3 S/W, 1979 RR 2 door, 1981 LR Stage 1 V8 (new), 1985 LR 110 V8 County (new), 2009 RRS TDV8
    Now: MY13 D4 TDV6. "E" rear diff. Cambo's magic Engine & Auto Tune.

The updated software is a remapped ecu.

The quoted comment from Gally at Autocode probably was referring to the difference between the 2.7 and 3.0. where the crank, conrods and bore are different. Nick

D3 Tdv6 can have the egr's simply blanked off. The D4 egra are more difficult and require them to be mapped out of the ecu (I.e reprogrammed ecu).

I have not done mine, egrs have not failed and regular checks of the intakes seems all OK. Still thinking about getting them deleted, perhaps one day.

The later D3's require the software patch also.

My 08 D3 needs the ecu patch, I know this first hand as I tried the blanking kit but got random faults and limp modes so put them back to standard. Haven’t done the remap yet , Car just Passed 182,000 and spends most of it life doing short city runs then 1 a year with do a trip of 10-15,000. Been tossing up wether I will do the remap or just replace when the time comes, but , like most things , I doubt the next set will last this long.

My D4 only really does longer runs now, so far so good. Been watching the Defender market, very tempted to trade up, hate to see the D4 go, but the new 110 just looks so good, might be a good time...

    Ok. Some detail.

    2.7
Early D3 just blank it and be done.
    Late D3 blank and map
    D4 blank and map

    3.0
Don’t blank them - map them
And don’t close them because they are a part of the boost bleed off when coming off throttle at higher boost. As the throttle butterfly closes (yes they have one) the second turbo is vented via EGR

Cameron from Old Jag will confirm
