    help! Transmission / HDC fault

    folks,
I'm getting transmission & HDC faults coming up and going into limp mode. IID shows a P80A-00 (7F) code which indicates something amiss with the rear diff clutch.
Anyone had this fault and can advise what to do?

I've tried clearing the faults to no avail.

Need to get to work tomorrow

    thanks in advance.

Do you have an e-diff if as you say rear diff clutch relayed codes? Have you ever changed the rear diff oil (its a "special" lr fluid).

Codes related to the transmission are typically related to individual clutch packs A, B, C
D etc. Recent trans fluid change? Low fluid levels means the tc can't lock and the clutch packs slip. Dirty fluid or worn valve body leads to bypass and valves not closing fully, again not enough fluid pressure to operate clutch packs correctly.

yup its an e-diff. It has been serviced regularly but changing the oil could be needed, not sure last time that was done. I'm aware its a special LR fluid though thanks for the reminder.

Hey Pete, have you tried to do a clutch calibration, I've done one for a transfer case before but not a rear E diff.. Have a quick look on calibrations in your gap tool

Not sure if it helps, but my D3 once did something similar and the fault was the rear diff lock motor that went belly up. No idea why, as I was just driving around urban streets. Had motor replaced and all was good. Don't have an IID reader so not sure what the codes were.

it only has them for the transfer case, no calibration for the e.diff

I run the transfer case clutch and sensor position calibrations multiple times with no luck, did the hard reset with the battery and still no luck.

There is a landy indie 10 mins from me so will give him a call later this morning and see if I can sneak it up to him.

Town is 20km away so cant event sneak in there for a can of contact cleaner.

FWIW,the rear E diff works all the time, even just driving around on the black top.
I have watched it in our old D4, using the GAP tool Blue Toothed to my ipad, while someone else is driving.
It locks and unlocks in varying amounts.

Took it around to my friendly LR indie Richard and he cleaned up the connectors on the TC ECU, a lot of corrosion. Fault still present though.

He had a couple of "spare" TC ECU and they were swapped through with same fault. Leaning towards the rear diff actuator but could be harness related somewhere.

He is doing some digging on the issue will be in touch when he has more info. Till then I'm grounded and working from home.

a lot of these will be cascading faults.

There are a lot of firmware updates available including the transfer case and rear diff.
anyone know how to update said firmware using the IID GAP tool? I can see various ECU re-flash options but was very nervous about playing with those.
