I have heard they are okay.
    Cheers

    Hi Gravy,
I've not heard of Gold Star, I only know of Justin through his reputation here, unless he is the person who diagnosed my snail in the fuel pickup problem 20 years ago, it was someone in Hobart.

I've been going to Gold Star for a few years now with my D1, D3, and Passat, and they've been excellent. They get a gold star from me

Vehicle mechanical inspection completed and identified the following:

    Vehicle general condition very good.

No record of replacement of belts, idlers or tensioners nor transmission servicing.

Scan results that are of concern showing as intermittent are, B108B-13 Start button circuit A, B108C-13 Start button circuit B and U0140-08 Lost communication with body control module.

Contacted Gold Star and got prices to replace all belts, idlers and tensioner plastic top coolant neck plus service 8 speed auto. Scott was extremely helpful and informative. Round figures be looking at $4K to bring vehicle up to scratch.

Fault codes to be cleared by dealer, vehicle driven for a week to see if they reoccur.

Outcomes and the final changeover figure will determine if I proceed with purchase.

Thanks to everyone for their valued comments.

Sounds reasonable to me. It's only just on 7yrs now, which is the specified belt life if kms aren't met first, which they aren't on this one. And a gearbox service at 100,000kms and then more regular servicing should see you through well.

As for the starter circuit faults, I don't know anything about them. A GAP IDII tool would be the first thing to get I reckon to help manage these sorts of faults, plus all of the other functionality they provide

Starter faults are often just the button.

If it's an MY15 as you mentioned and at only 100,000 klms you could do the belts/tensioners and coolant housing later in the year to hep your cash flow
Suggest a trans service immediately upon purchase.
Good luck with purchase, they are a superb vehicle.

Get the wagon to Hobart don't puss around, these wagons need people that know Landrover/D4. No disrespect to any one but having done 206,000 Kms, in 12 years, doing maintenance matters in advance of long trips and getting to know the D4 - get it to Justin, I hear he does really fair work. Enjoy, great wagons.

Sounds like a goer. In the words of a certain sports apparel supplier; "Just Do It"
