    Intermittent electrical problems 2015 TDV6

Hi All, Over the past couple of years I have been having intermittent problems with steering wheel controls for radio volume, phone voice control and also parking sensors. Sometimes they work sometimes not. Over the past month or two all has been working fine and I now realize that we have just been through a fairly dry winter with low humidity where as we have had wetter than average conditions over the last couple of years here on the nsw mid north coast. Maybe moisture is the culprit. ??
    would appreciate your thoughts.

P.S. Have owned the wagon since new towing a 2.7t van for 60k of its 110k and except for the above has been basically faultless I have it serviced every 6mths by my indie plus replacing items at intervals as needed and suggested by the members and Gurus of this forum - thank you.
    Cheers Ken

The small pin connections in the wheel itself (where the controls plug in to the clock spring can get a bit of build up.

If it keeps happening I would start there.

I had my steering wheel controls mix up so volume down became up etc. The buttons all use a different resistance values to show what’s been pressed. As Tombie said, over time the connectors seem to get a build up that affects these values.

You can remove the air bag and then get to the connectors. Remove each control connector and use an electronic contact cleaner on them.

There are instructions on how to remove the air bag if you look around. You’ll need to fashion a tool for it or buy the special tool to unclip it.

I'd start with contact cleaning the buttons on the steering wheel first, as this cured my cruise control problems, and they work on the same resistance type values.
