Ratchet ring spanners…also vital for this process. The nut/bolt combo inside the front wing is also fun.

It’s a battle but I drilled mine using a step drill from Bunnings.

I used this baby - an oldie but a goodie and lost the tungsten tips of 2 6 mm bits, plus wore out a couple of cobalts before that

You don't muck around Gav, that's a demolition hammer! I would've thought a rattle gun /impact driver would have done just fine.

My 18V Makita hammerdrill wasn't interested in getting any real progress, but this baby only took under a minute as Tombie indicated. After an hour of fiddling around prior, I was over it and ready to move on.

My only trouble now is buying cheap has bitten me on the posterior.

The back of the snorkel (the bit that sits flush against the mudguard) has a 20 mm concave bow in it and all but one of the through bolts can't be married up with their nuts - and guess who threw out all of the paperwork and emails a couple of weeks ago!!!!

When I bought my D4 it had the safari snorkel already fitted, but it had the same bow in it that you mention. Turns out it was a trim clip that had fallen between the outside of the mudguard and inside of the snorkel box that sits flush. Checked that all bolts were fitted, managed to remove the offending trim clip with a coat-hanger, the snorkel box soon resumed its correct shape against the mudguard.
