STEDI LED Light bar install D4.

    Hi Folks,

I've just purchased a Stedi ST3303 23" light bar for my 2015 D4 with bi-xenon headlights and I have a query re the wiring harness. I've attached a picture of the harness below, and understand the need to tap into the high-beam wire behind the LH headlight (blue-grey wire I understand) for the high beam trigger.

I was hoping someone could confirm my understanding, which is that, first, in the picture below the wire that needs to be connected to the high beam trigger is the red wire currently connected to the white plug (this is a designed to connect to a variety of adapters, none of which work with the bi-xenon headlights). Second, am I correct that the black wire connected to the white plug should just be earthed?

I should add I also ordered the light bar brackets from AutoElecOz in WA and will be installing a Traxide dual battery setup at the same time.

Happy to post pictures once installed.

    Many thanks

    Short answer..Yes!

You'll need to earth it to complete the switching circuit to trigger the relay.

Am surprised they don't make an adapter to suit your D4.

    Check here..

    STEDI™ | H1 / H4 / H7 / H8 / H9 / H11 / HB3 High Beam Piggy Back Adapter

Click on the "Customize and add to cart box" for other adapters not supplied with the kit.

    cheers..

Thanks for the quick response. Great to have that confirmed.

Yes, it’s frustrating but I was advised there is no piggyback adaptor for the D4 with bi-xenon lights.

    Many thanks…

As the D4 uses a multi plug containing around 10 cable inlets it’s a niche product.

Correct, no piggy back from Stedi available. Splice into the wire you mentioned at the lh headlight, connect to earth and power and wire in the switch and all will be well.

I suspect I'd really like one of these ( Stedi ST3303 23" ) for night running in my otherwise unmolested D4. Not planning on a bullbar , winch etc, but with my aging eyesight a bit of extra nightlight on the open road would not go astray - sounds like a good Xmas present if I can rake up some volunteers.

With ageing eyesight you want high CRI and low glare. STEDI LED Light bar install D4.

I run a good quality (Baja Designs) 40" single row LED light bar under the roofrack and a pair of FYRLYT 9000 driving lights on the bullbar, with standard HID headlights.

I find that I often have to turn the LED bar off due to reflected glare in certain conditions (eg rain or mist in the air / light fog / a lot of reflective roadside signage or new cat's eyes on the road), and run with just the vehicle's normal HID / Xenon high beam and the FYRLYT's. The "yellow" light of the FYRLYT's is generally much easier on the eyes.

Having said that, on those occasions when I do have everything turned on, it lights up everything in front and to the sides of the vehicle like daylight.

    Hi Tombie,

Just following up on your comment again. Am interested in what you'd recommend as combining a good spread and distance.

    Cheers!
