Hi Grant.
What model compressor do you have? Have you ever serviced or replaced it?
Hi All
I expect this has been answered before, so my apologies in advance - i have found several references but the threads all seem to be quite old and peter out...
My D3 keeps pinging an Air Suspension amber MIL after about 10ks every morning but if I switch off and then restart engine, I don;t see the code for the rest of the day. Normal and Off Road heights are no issue but if I try to drop to Access height, the Disco reverts to extended even with no obstruction underneath, and throws the amber light again.
I've only got a cheapy ONBII tool, and I can't afford a Hawkeye etc (yet).
I've lubed the height sensors, checked for anything that might be obstructing the suspension (twigs, dead animals etc), checked the fuses and battery - all good. I'm at a loss without trying to get a $$$ code reader..anyone able to offer some advice?
The Disco sits level at normal height overnight, so i'm thinking it isn't an air leak.
Thanks
Grant
Hi Grant.

Could also be the height sensors, especially as it wants to go to extended mode, the sensors are thinking the car is bottoming out, typical of the sensors need recalibration. Your local LR indie worth their salt should be able to do this for you for low $$.
When my compressor desiccant started to break down I started to get faults as you described. Took about 6 months before the fault could not be cleared by switching off and on.
Being a D3, I assume you still have a Hitachi so buy a rebuild kit from X8R (including a aluminium cap) and rebuild it.

Thanks for the advice all. The car deffo thinks its bottoming out.
it is an OEM original fit Hitachi as far as I can tell - only got the Disco a few days ago so I've not had it serviced, and no evidence of a new compressor or a change in the history.
Ill def get a rebuild kit and renew the dessicant
Cheers

If you are North of the river, bring it over and I'll plug the Gap in and read the codes. Without those it's guesswork.
Do the desiccant only first. If that fails, look at the piston seal etc.. safer easier cheaper
I second getting a refurbish kit. I especially rate the X8r kit with the replacement end cap. Without a code reader I'd guess the ping after ten kms is it failing the meet pressure in the reservoir.
Does the car fart after you turn it off? It could be having difficulty venting - I can't remember if mine used to have issues lowering.
I have the X8R kit (X8R0044) including piston seal, desiccant & new compressor cap sitting here. I'm not planning on using it until next year, so if you need it in a hurry you're welcome to "borrow it" and just replace it when the new one comes in.
