Setting up the LR4 for towing

    Happy New Year.

So I’ve bought a camper trailer and have been trying to get a hold of a Mitch Hitch but they’re on back order until sometime in Feb.

Found this and I’ve ordered one https://www.allfourx4.com.au/epages/...iABEgJrjfD_BwE

Has any one had any experience with them or thoughts? Slightly cheaper than the Mitch Hitch and was in stock. Also comes with a tow ball which the Mitch Hitch doesn’t as far as I know. Same rating but doesn’t have the polyurethane wheel.

    Cheers

Yeah I would have preferred the Mitch Hitch since it’s proven but need it before mid feb. It’s not super cheap and is ADR compliant so fingers crossed I guess.

I’ve got one of them. I licked it up 2nd hand from the wreckers. It’s been fine. There’s no issues at all. The main difference is the looks. They’re both ADR compliant and made from decent steel and welded properly.

When you install it make the main bolt at tight as you can. I called a couple of authorised installers to ask the torque settings for the big main bolt and they didn’t know. They advised doing it as tight as you can with a 1/2” breaker bar then put some pipe on the end and make it tighter again! The main nut is a nylock so no worries about it coming loose.

I had to remove the unused round trailer plug on one side so I could get a socket in. I ended up removing it permanently in the end.

I installed mine myself. Didn't need to remove any sockets to install. Straightforward and sturdy and seems well made. Had it about 4 years now. Would buy again. Matti
