I considered fitting a D3/D4 snorkel to my 4.4 TDV8 L322 as it's primary turbo is on the RH side, even though one would look very strange on a L322. However its intake is from the inner guard, with vents exitting under the side edge of the bonnet for some of the air and the filter stays much cleaner than the D4's did prior to fitting the snorkel, so I won't be fitting a snorkel to this vehicle.

I also have really only fitted a snorkel for dust although you never know how deep the water is up north ( like the entrance to El Questro gorge ) because my wife is afraid of being eaten by crocodiles BUT unlike everyone else I feel I can hear the turbos spooling up.

I had one on my Prior D3. Not on my current D3. I did notice noise! Not a lot but enough to note only at 100kph or more where allowed! Long distances tent to be at that speed!

Just once it was needed or I would have drowned my engine. Fully agree our cars are not boats. That once was a hole which was a ripper! Not putting one on my replacement.

Safari Snorkel I think- most definitely NOT the Landrover not water proof one!

Nice people at AMV Ringwood fitted it and a ARB bar for me. Despite several thousand roos spotted I had never needed the Bull bar. The Replacement has no Bar thus no Winch which I did use a lot

Have to be a lot more careful to not get bogged now

I've got a safari one one mine. I did waterproof it as well, have had to cross up to bonnet deep once to get home (bottom of driveway) it is not often its that deep but that snorkel has earned its keep. I've actually never had a 4wd without one.
I think its personal choice and dependent on where you live or plan to go, it's necessary for me here

Yes, I got a 2nd hand OL bar fitted with a winch, hope never to ‘need’ either!
Thanks for the recommendation for AMV. I may get in touch with them. I’m not planning going deep swimming, but knowing it’s able is re-assuring. Mainly want to use it for long unsealed journeys, hence concerns about noise.

the only real extra noise I noticed is the turbo and what a sweet sound it is,happy to have one on mine now, no air filter change needed on this trip as compared to the last trip to the Kimberly and top end which totally trashed filters
