Mine had a very small amount of oil after 14 years and had the recall but it died eventually. If there’s vacuum and no brake assist the booster is toast. Update to the RRS booster when changing.
So i have just started having issues with brakes a few days ago where the pedal goes hard after about the 3rd brake application, expected it to be oil in the servo even though the PO had the recall done in 2010. Bought an oil extraction syringe and pulled the vacuum pipe and dipped it with a long zip tie but its completely dry and clean albeit with a tiny bit of residue which i believe is a left over from before the recall. I stuck a stick into the vac pipe and its clean and dry as well, booster holds vacuum overnight so i would think the booster is ok.

Tested both the booster and the vacuum pump today, vac pump is good but the booster holds no vacuum at all. At first i would get 2-3 brake applications but now lucky to get one, new RRS booster on the way.

While I wait for the new booster I thought I would remove mine and pull it apart, not a bad job and I found barely any oil in it and that was only in one section.
Degreased, dried and reassembled and first test it seems to be holding, will go for a fang around the block before I call it a success.
