We have a caravan and an ex-army number 5 trailers - I have a different hitch for each one to tow level.
Personally, I would not change the ride height for long distance driving. As stated, the increase would raise your center of gravity.
I dont use the useless land rover hitch - mine is a mitch hitch look alike, similar to this one.
Mitch hitch are now out of business, so you need to look at other brands here in Oz. I think 4wheel drive industries also have an approved one.

Awesome news - when I looked 2 days ago, there was a notice to say they were no longer trading. I'm glad they are still going.

Edit post. Thank you - it is McHitch.com.au who have closed not Mitch Hitch.

Holy hell that's high isn't it?

Is there a way to modify the trailer to suit the car?

    • Mitch Hitch onboard
    • Hitch inverted and raised
    • Problem I have with an adjustable one is the the rear bottom door will go clonk onto the hitch when I open it. Im close now as is.

    Wow! That’s insanely high.

The van is a Torus 21'6. Great van, single XPS fibreglass shell with no frame, decent chassis & independent suspension on 16" wheels. Those measurements are as on my driveway.
