    Stock 19” d4 wheels

Hi everyone, noob question here please forgive me ! I have done a search and cont find the answer simply..

Currently own a 2012 3.0 SDV6 HSE, it came with 22” alloys which are currently fine for general road use but later in the year I will be heading up to Karijini from Perth towing a Camprite g6 trailer. The trailer has 17” land cruiser wheels and hubs on and I am looking to change all the wheels (ie 8 wheels and tyres) so they are all the same size and tread and I have two interchangeable spares.

As much as I would like to buy Tuffants or Moab 18”s it simply doesn’t make financial sense. So I am thinking of looking for stock D4 19” wheels second hand as I can’t see significant gain from going down 1” in wheel size.

    Questions are:
Do all the D4 model 19” stock LR wheels fit the SDV6?

Plenty of threads on best brand of tyre to put on but what would be the ideal (largest?) size without rubbing/modding etc? Bearing in mind I have a set of city wheels !

Yep, all D4 19” work. You can now get some 60 profile 19” tyres from General Grabber for a bit more sidewall.

The 65 profile are a bit too big.

I've been using the GG 255/60R19 AT3 on my L322 for a while now. They have as much sidewall as the stock D3 & 2.7 D4 255/60R18 and their 113 load rating is significantly higher than the GG AT3 and most other brand 255/55R19's 110 LI along with that little extra sidewall for pounding along gravel roads and the occasional slow rocky climb, without being too harsh for everyday use. The pattern is open enough to be quite useful in sloppy stuff too.

Tempe Tyres in Sydney have imported this size AT3. I switched from 20" to D4 19" rims when these tyres became available.

Make sure the tyres (both size & brand) you go with are readily available in remote areas.

I take 2 spares and know that the size at least is usually available to be shipped from major tyre outlets, being a D5/L494/L405 size.

It’s only a courier away. I’ve had two tyres shipped overnight from Perth when I’ve split them. One was a Cooper and the other a Maxxis. Never been an issue. Always have at least one spare on hand.

I was thinking of when I changed tyres a few months ago - was looking at getting scorpion ATs until I rang round the local tyre shops & was told it would take a few weeks to ship them in.
