Autel make reasonable priced ones that work on LR products, don't know the model number but are sub $100.

    Google

Auto Transmissions R Us in Balcatta specialise in these units. Does it have any history of oil changes?

There’s actually nothing to suggest it’s a common ZF / Disco problem so possibly an easy fix but well worth getting the basics done in a good service. If no service history the oil is probably like molasses by now.

    Agreed.

A google search shows it is a common fault across many brands. Often just due to bad electrical connectors.

Worst case is the solenoid has failed, but given the experience with the D3/D4 would point to a bad connection somewhere.

Could be a leaking mechatronic sleeve allowing fluid into the connector, a fluid change and check of the connector would be where I'd start.
Then new solenoids and valve body rebuild.

Fluid change is a simple DIY job, the plastic pan/filter is harder if fitting the same again but the steel pan conversion is easy.
