    TOPIX access - no more?

    Hello all,

I have previously accessed TOPIX over the last 2 years to get info about my D4.
I know it's been offline for a while becasue of the cyber attack on JLR.
I noticed that it seems to be available again, so it tried to log in, but access denied.
Fair enough, I thought, you need to register again after the cyber attack.
I emailed their help desk to get reinstated and they now have special requirements to grant access.

    This was their response:

    Hi David,

For us to re-activate your account, please provide the following information.

For Independent operators in order to proceed with your application for access to TOPIx, please provide the following documentation in PDF format to JLRATECH@jaguarlandrover.com:

    1. National Police Check Certificate obtained in the last 2 years
    2. Training Evidence that demonstrates competency in safely depowering, isolating and re-initialising a high voltage battery installed in a scheme vehicle & that is provided by a scheme RTO or provided by, or on behalf of, a manufacturer of one of those systems or a scheme vehicle in which one of those systems is installed.

If you would like to know more information regarding the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme, please visit Motor vehicle information scheme (MVIS) | ACCC (About the motor vehicle information scheme | ACCC)

    Kind Regards,

    JLR Technical
Seems that you need to have completed certified training for working on electric vehicles before you can get access to TOPIX before they will grant you access.

Yea I queried this a while back and got this response from LR support:

The Australian government changed the legislation back in July 2022 for the sharing of our information to qualified individuals registered to an automotive business.

We can no longer provide workshop information to private individuals in Australia.
Haven't tried signing up with a VPN pretending to be somewhere else yet.

I just registered for Topix this morning, and got the same email as the OP.

The Nanny State raises its ugly head again - why don't you let us decide what we can and can't work on in our vehicles? If we're stupid enough to do something we have no idea about, serves us bloody right!

Might also look into a VPN...

Further to this conversation, I used my VPN (NORDVPN) to access the London server and tried to register with TOPIX - this is the text of their updated legal document -
