Thread: Battery / Alternator Light Illuminated

Hi Tote, to fully reset warning indicators to see if they will return, you need to turn the ignition off, remove the key and put your Park Brake on.

You then need to wait about two minutes for the Park Brake light to go out.

This indicates that the D3’s computer has gone through it’s shutdown sequence and then when you restart, you are starting with a fully reset computer and usually only problems that are still present will be indicated.

But anyway, let us know what the dealer finds.

Back in tomorrow for a new alternator. Apparently it has logged that the regulator is failing but is still charging OK. Dealer has ordered a new one in overnight.

Went to pick up the disco tonight and got a freeloader instead, alternator didn't fix it, methinks dealer has escalated fault to second level support in Mumbai /sarcasm off

Hi Tote,
If you are using the ACT dealer, from earlier threads I suspect that you may be suffering local comms/competency difficulties.

When my recent probs showed up (see "niggles" thread) I was travelling south from Goulburn to Canberra. When I investigated the service options, I decided to proceed past ACT & evaluate as time moved on.

Perhaps with luck, I was able to return to Sydney & Trivetts were, once again, great.

I don't know who your LR service centre is, but I suggest that you need to consider a change.

Well this afternoons update is that the Canberra dealer is stumped and LR tech support in Sydney are also stumped. Another day with the Freelander.
They are still thinking of tests to run

Still got the freeloader, 11.5lt/100Km on the same running the Disco gets 9.5l/100Km. The freelander is a V6 petrol though. Goes OK but is a big comedown from the Disco 3. Mentioned to the dealer this arvo I'd rather have a new Fender to play with but it didn't do any good, should be grateful I guess, I just want my Disco Back, mutter mutter, mutter.......

Almost got it back this afternoon but got a call when I was 5 minutes from the dealer, the climate control stopped working when they took it for a test drive.
I wonder how many other dealer induced faults I will have now, it's marvelous the opportunities a modern car like a D3 gives Land Rover dealers to #### it up.
