		Hi all,

My first post so don't crack it if I don't get this right...

Just bought a 2nd hand 2006 D3 TDV6, only had it 3 weeks but I'm head over heels already!!!

The last owner installed a new stereo, Kenwood 6 disc DVD player. I didn't like it right from the start as it stuck out too far, looked out of place and the only thing it did that the factory radio couldn't do is play DVDs... which is of no use to me!

So I set about ripping it out and re installing the factory CD player (thank god he kept it) which was a lot easier than I thought it might be. Yes, I did have to dismatle the entire centre console right back to the cubby box which was a but worrying, but it all went back together perfectly! I was happy to remove all the somewhat dodgy wiring for the DVD player (home install job). The previous owner obviously didn't have the tamper proof screwdriver set, and as a result, more than half the screws were baddly burred , but I was able to use an ordinary flat head screwdriver to get them out.

AnD3rew, to answer your question, my D3 doesn't have the factory aux jack, so i thought I'd have a crack at Def90's aux install. (BTW, thanks Def90, not sure what I'd have done ipod-wise if I hadn't seen this post)

Since I had the dash in bits already, I thought I'd wire my aux jack to the back of the stereo, so I wouldn't have to run wires accross the passenger side floor. The smaller connection in the back of the stereo has the three wires pointed out by Def90

Using a small screwdriver I released the individual wires from the plug then, using Def90's wiring instructions, piggybacked the wires from my aux lead into the connectors and put them back into the plug.

Then I ran the aux lead behind the A/C controls and ash tray and out into the space below. When not in use it rolls up and fits in the ash tray, completely out of sight.

Basically the same install as Def90, but don't have to run wires as far. I though it would be good not having to get into the back of the radio but once you get into it, it is really easy to pull apart and put back together.

Re inventing the wheel perhaps, just my 2 cents worth.

Agree it's a great write up and instruction. I did it myself in about an hour, and that was mostly because I tried locating the stereo cable in a couple of different spots before settling back on the lower centre console (as per the instructions).

Very happy and it sounds great too! (first time I have soldered anything in 20 years!)

I tapped into the "aux" wiring then fitted a female plug into the dash - then used one of these to charge my I-pod as I play it... USB AUX Car Audio Data Charger Cable for iPod iPhone 4 | eBay UK - works a treat. I have one of those "Belkin" thingies that plugs into the 12 v socket to give me a USB port.

 cheers

		Hi all

I pulled the kick panel off of my 09 S TDV6 and found the middle wire bank - but I didn't see any blue or black wires leading into it. I had about 6 dark green, 1 lime green, an orange and a red, IIRC. Has anyone else come across this?

 Thanks.
