Thanks Jonesy for the advice mate, i live in Sunny Cessnock in the hunter valley, i am still looking at the moment i think i might give the one a miss with the large k's, it might be a wait till Xmas is over and everything settle down again, no harm in looking and researching though!
Thanks for the offer mate i might hold you to that, if i ever see one in the Sydney area and go for a look.
Cheers Paddy

06 SE V6 Discovery 3
As I understand it the Land Rover V6 is based on the old Ford Essex V6, originally used in 2.5 and 3.0 litre configuration in the old cortinas and later in the Sierra's and Sapphires in the UK and South Africa, more recently used in the Ford Ranger Utes in South Africa in 4.0 litre config........ not sure if that is correct
You learn something every day, I thought it was a North American engine.....

I thought it was the one used in the Ford Explorer?
Mate - just a thought and you might hate it...but for my money I would rather a new TDV6 D4 in the lower spec trim (but with a magic looking dash compared to the D3) than a 3 year old D3 in the HSE trim (and with the larger mags the HSE is not as good off road...but that may not bother you) for around the same dosh (at a guess - I stand to be corrected)..
Cheers
According to wikipedia it is the Ford Cologne engine

thanks oz scott, i have been thinking exactly the same thing, that centre dash is really dated, new D4 is alot more modern, i went and took the HSE for a test drive but i was'nt impressed by the overall condition, alot of k's 112k's, cream leather showing signs of wear, it just did'nt scream to me "spend $54000 on me!".
However It drove very well and handled around town very well.
I agree the 18 inch wheels would not be as good for off roading which is important to me. But from what i've read the new D4 S with 2.7TD comes with 18 inch wheels?
With the D3:
The 18"s can be replaced with 17"s on the D3, but I think the D4 has bigger brakes, hence that is not an option for the D4.
BTW I haven't had a problem with the 18's... yet. If I do, a set of 17"s from the wrecker, or tyre store....
After the last weekend, with two Pajero's, I think that unless you are after the last 10% of 4wd capability there will be more difference in drivers capability than in the cars...
Cheers,
AP
