I would think that as long as the pipes weren't linked to crash protection systems it might be worth a go if it was fitted by a reputable mob who backed up the mod.

I own a HSE V8 Disco 3 and wanted a deluxe winch bar with rap around side bars and had the same issue.
As other members have stated ECB make a basic non winch bar that will bolt on with a few minor adjustments.
I was also told that somone has had a diesel winch bar fitted to a petrol Disco 3 however some air conditioning components had to be relocated and this put me off getting it done.
TJM's quote was a few hundred dollars cheaper then ARB for the same (only) ECB bar that I was quoted and thanks to a very helpful landrover repair centre who made a number of calls to Brisbane and Sydney I was able to finally find out why I couldn't get the bar I wanted either.
:)
I have a D3 S V6 and wanted to fit a bull-bar after a run-in with a small 'roo. I got the same run around, "can't be done" etc. I got in touch with Triumph Rover Spares in Adelaide and they got an ARB for me and fitted it too for under $2k.
So it can be done

Just finished call with ARB at Nundah who quoted me $2119 for a deluxe winch bar fitted on my Black 2009 Petrol V6 SE. They do have a note about Diesel though so it may require purchase from them and fitting by others.

Hi all,
I have recently bought a 2009 v6 petrol d3 and want to mount a winch compatible bar but am having the same trouble finding a suitable doner as those in the thread. I was wonering if maybe anyone had fit an ARB bar themselves and done any mods needed as well? My local dealer is being far from helpful, but like i told him someone must have done it somewhere!?
Cheers Dave
Hi DavesD3,
give this guy (Roger Chestney) an e-mail, he's been very helpful to me re my bullbar "adjustment" problems, he may be able to give you some help. He is the National Customer Service Coordinator.
rchestney@arb.com.au
cheers
Go to Opposite Lock. They will have no problems fitting a winch bar to your petrol v6. Bar seems very similar in looks and design the the ARB bar.
I got one done in May in Melbourne with no dramas.
HI,
I'm having the same problem with ARB in Mandurah south of Perth
who told me that the Delux winch bullbar they sell for Series 3 can only
fit a Diesel model due to the mounts being diffrent than a Petrol
Also the Diesel HSE models is diffrent and it wont fit them either.
So if the one's from ARB dont fit and TJ cant also and yet their is people
who had them fitted is beyond me some people working at ARB I think have no idea what their selling OR DO IT WITH A BIT OF BOTHER.
Question I have tho is can I do this on my own at home or do u need a hoist or workshop to do this fitment.

The owner at Cremorne Prestige has a winch hidden behind his standard front bumper on his D4 without a bar.
I wonder if you could mount the same way and then fit a non winch alloy bar with a cutout fr the winch cable?
I had the Opposite Lock winch bar fitted to my D3 V8 without any problems. Been on for over a year now. I too had the same run around with ARB. They said I had to buy the bar and if it didn't fit I still had to pay for the bar.
