Buying a RR sport......

TDV8's a stunning car / engine combo, as sniegy's alluded to the only real issues are the knocking suspension (but to be honest, TADTS) and the occasional turbo failure which requires the body to be removed to fix it. That's not as dramatic as it sounds though, any decent LR dealer / specialist will have the body off in no time at all.

I'll say this. If you have the cash to buy a TDV8 then drive one after first driving the TDV6. If you don't have the cash for a TDV8 then DO NOT drive it :p The new 3 litre TDV6 isn't that far off in terms of direct performance, all it lacks is the V8 rumble. It's one of the few TDV8's that actually sounds like a proper petrol V8.

When I was looking for a RRS a while back, I also would have liked a TDV8 but my primary criteria in a car was diesel and low kms. These could be had in the TDV6 for reasonable money but for substantial more money the only TDV8s were all hi Kms.

Apologies to this thread but I was recently pinged for describing the beautiful charateristics of the 3.6 TDV8 by using an abbreviated version of the F bomb......so if that offended anyone, I promise to bring the beast around to your place......let you drive it...especially planting the foot through the floor for a reverberatory hyperdrive type take off....and count the number of expletives.

I drove the RRS TDV8 before I bought the D4 3.0 and Really wanted one.. But I ended up with the HSE for the ease of fitting of road accessories and those extra two seats that it seems I'm in the age group that needs them (well SWMBO needs them) . One day I dream of the 4.4TDV8 Vogue with MTR's hmmmmm!!

Body to be removed! For a big 4x4 you would think it's easily accessible and ample of space under the hood.

So far I have only been looking on the net and I have found a few that I like. The more I search, the more the V8 is becoming appealing.....well mainly due to the fact its a V8. It's much in par with second hand V8 and 3L in terms of price but I prefer the later model's interior.

With the knocking suspension, is that only when driven hard in corners?

The TDV8 does come in the face lifted body and interior.
