Having had both, while we like the SDV6, we loved the TDV8. It didn't love us though![]()
There were issues with the older TDV8s lunching the turbos. They've slightly more mid range pickup than the 3 ltr, but there's not a lot in it. Of course they don't sound the same!
Cheers

Test drove a couple of v6s, plenty of shove. Got lucky on price and ended up with a 2010 TDV8. It's a lovely, addictive beast, especially the sound, but the economy is seriously off the pace of the 6 for not much more actual go...
Now 2016 D4 HSE 'Leo' and Steve the Triumph Speed Twin
Then 2010 D4 3.0 HSE 'James'
Then 2010 RRS TDV8 'Roger' w traxide DBS, UHF, Cooper Zeons, Superchips remap
Then 2010 D4 TDV6 'Jumbo' w traxide DBS
First love 2002 D2 TD5 'Disco Stu'
Also even less payload in the V8 if that matters to you...

From the UK experience it would seem all of them equally if fitted with the 3.6 ltr V8. So 2005 ~ 2010.
