    3.0 tdv6 egr turn off

Hi all, wanting to turn the egr vales off on my sport. Can this be done with a code reader like the Hawkeye or the i930. Or is it a computer reflash only. Thanks

I think that you will find that it depends on the year of manufacture as it is simple with blanking plates on older ones but needs planking plates plus a software patch on newer ones.
    What year is yours?

Mines a 2010. I didn't believe that there were options for blanking plugs on 3ltrs only the 2.7

Id like to do this on my 2007 TDV8 3.6 but ive read to many posts so not sure if ineed just the blanking plate kit or if i can just do the software patch so they are closed all the time hence not requiring the blanking plates.
Has anyone on here done it on this model? If so which way did you go?
    Cheers

I've had EGR emulators fitted for the past year. Very happy.

Did you do the emulators on a 2007 TDV8 3.6 ? I thought they were only available for the later models, where did you get them ?

Yes. But I think they would work on any 3.6 tdv8. I bought them from Autocode in Perth. Very easy to install.

This install in a FFRR by 'lazylabs' looks pretty good. I like the way fits in the ECU box.

Some have had supply/communication problems. Mine arrived ok without any dramas. The alternative is remap by BAS using an IID Tool, or installed by someone else. I think Bluefin will map out the EGR.

    Hi Meccles,

What made you choose to blank off the EGR's on the 3.0? i have been reading mixed reviews- with them blanked off does the manifold run hotter than usual?

Is this easier to do with the 3.0?

I am at 105,000kms and change my oil every 10,000kms. Might keep this car for a long time too as ive just had transmission flushed.

    Cheers

The guy that services my car was all in favor of blanking EGRs and I trust him. Certainly exhaust is way cleaner. Re manifold temp I couldn't tell you haven't really looked. We are also keeping car it does everything we need.
