    It sounds like you need to replace the battery in the remote/key

    Hi There,
    I wasn't sure about the battery thing, I didn't remember seeing a battery in the remote when I replaced the cover, ah well, must be in there somewhere, thank you.

    Hi There,
    OK, stripped the remote apart and yes there is a battery in there however it is firmly stuck in place, it has two tabs, one on the top and one on the bottom of the battery and they are firmly attached to the battery, is there a special trick to this or is the battery not replaceable? I remember something about this from ages ago, I thought the battery was self charging and couldn't be replaced, so here I am............. remote in pieces, battery stuck............. next move please?

    Cheers Marty

    Hi There,
    Based on what I know now I suspect that this topic has been done to death. The battery is replaceable however this involves buying from somewhere else via I suspect ebay a soldering iron and the possibility that the key will need recoding ($180) after the battery has been replaced. A new key has to be ordered from the UK at the cost of $460 + gst plus recoding on arrival at the dealership ($180), not a cheap exercise this one.

    Cheers Marty.

    New Battery

    G'day;
    I replaced my battery recently no need to re-code afterwards.
    Battery from ebay went straight in, no problems if you can use a soldering iron.
    Cheers.

    Unhappy Key

    G'day;
    I just wanted to add to my previous, if the new battery does not fix it, it may be the dash.
    I ordered a new key and the dealer could not connect to the vehicle to re-code it.
    My NanoCom also had the same problem indicating a canbus error.
    Pray it is not this issue as I had intermittant locking problem as the main symptom as well.
    New instrument cluster $2230-00.
    Good Luck.

    Hi There,
    Thanks for the heads up I think mine is just the battery, that is what all the symptoms point to. I have now read the book, seen the play and watched some guy replace the battery on You Tube, ready to go, all I need now is the battery which I ordered of EBay on Tuesday. Soldering iron is hot and in the cradle...........

    Cheers Marty.

    Battery replaced.................. :)

    Hi All,
    Battery arrived last night from "Hong Kong", $7.49 and free postage would you believe, Panasonic battery so not a no name brand as I had half expected. Had one of the Instrument Technicians from my workplace solder it in this morning all fixed, took about 10 minutes all up once I had destroyed the plastic casing, anyway IT WORKS. Bit of a difference between that and 600 odd dollars........... Didn't event need to go through the recoding process.
