    Red arc brake controller

Hi guys, just bought my first ever Range Rover Sports 2007 model TDV8. Going to fit a red arc pro to it but not sure if the instruction on the box will be right for the Rang Rover. Any body done this before and have a wiring diagram.
    Thanks for your help.

This is the sticky thread for the D3 but your car will basically be the same - make yourself a coffee or get a nice cold beer and have a good read

Hi Roly, Great choice of vehicle by the way.

I had my Redarc fitted by an auto elec but I had him fit the switch here on a little bracket. Works fine and is easily accessible.

    Thinking about it

Hi guys... I have been doing to hunting around as I am looking at fitting a Redarc Towpro Elite to me 2008 RRS TDV8. I understand it has the tow package factory fitted.. but there are a number of things I havnt been able to find an answer to.. I am hoping someone can guide me...

    1. I understand there is a wiring harness fitted as a part of the tow package, which has a socket to plug in a brake controller with all the wiring needed in place. I was thinking about using a tekonsha adaptor, cutting off the tekonsha plug and wiring it into the Towpro. However a number of people have mentioned needing a diode... I am not clear on if this diode is already in place, or perhaps not needed with the factory wiring harness?

    2. I have seen the dial for the TowPro mounted in the top right of the panel where the headlight control is located, but I am unclear on how to access this space to run the cable to the controller itself? Some pictures look like they might be from the side, but I have only heard talk of accessing from underneath?? If it can be accessed form the side, how is that panel removed? Any suggestions on how to access from below as well?

    3. For those on this thread that have mentioned that they have done pretty much exactly this, where did you mount the controller unit itself?

    4. For the factory wiring harness, which pin on the two 7 pin round sockets at the back actually feeds the brake signal to the trailer? I cant find any docco on that? (I am trying to make and adapter at the moment to allow me to split the pins I need from a 12 pin square plug to the two 7pin round sockets)

Thanks Heaps for any help / advise you can provide...

    Jamie

Saw the RedArc fitted to a 2010 but the light switch area is different from a 2008.

    Hi Jamie,
I had mine fitted in the same location as P38Brickus, and it is ideally located for immediate access when needed (and when you need it, sometimes you REALLY need it fast..)
I had the controller installed by a RR specialist workshop (not a dealer) instead of doing a DIY, because there is a need to make some changes to the system controller to enable integration of the brake controller and there's a lot of wiring to go in under carpets and dashboard- it was just easier and less stressful to give it to a professional.
If you end up needing a tow pack loom for a pre-2010 model, I have one here (Victoria) as I bought the wrong one and the RR dealer wouldn't take it back.

Thanks for the tip... when you say changes to the system controller, what sort of changes do you mean? I have had it installed by an auto elec, but not a specialist RR..

Sorry about delayed response... I think they had to make some changes in the system controller so it would recognise when a trailer is plugged in and inhibit the reverse warning bleepers, and also something to do with the Brake notification on teh dashboard.

But if it's already installed and working OK, then maybe either a) your electrosparks knows what he's doing, or b) my bloke doesn't...
