    Checking Air in the Spare

I realised today that I had not checked the air pressure in my spare tyre for a few years. When I went to do it I found that as I have my spare winched up with the outside face of the wheel up (as displayed in the manual) I could not do it and would have to lower the spare on the winch to get at the tyre valve.

Has anyone mounted their spare upside down with the outside face down and exposed to stones and exposing the winch retainer that holds the wheel to damage when offroad - if not, is there an easy way of checking tyre pressure with the wheel in place.

    Hi,
I have seen an air extension screwed into the spare ' s valve, running out to under the tray edge air input schraeder valve.
Dead easy to check along with the other wheels.
    Cheers

I’ve got one of those plastic tyre pressure sensors on an extension, when ever I want to check the pressure I just fetch the extension out and have a look at the sensor. Easy and quick.

Having the wheel around the other way has less wire on the winch spool which reduces the risk of the winch not working, however the road side of the rim does get battered if you run the vehicle on gravel roads, running on bitumen the rim hardly saw any damage at all just got a big grubby.

    Cheers Marty
