I've got an L320 TDV8 being shipped over from Perth currently. It's got the aforementioned 285/22s on it and will get LT285/60R18 BFGs on Compos pretty much as soon as it lands. The head said just put on 265/65s but the heart said "Yeah, but have you seen how good they look with these fat tyres?" And it already had the 285s so I struggled with the idea of going narrower. Plus I like wider tyres on narrower rims for offroading (rim damage, bead packing, etc) and they were the same price. At the end of the day this isn't a fully rational purchase anyway...
Yeah, that's exactly my dilemma. The BFG 285/60R18 have an Diameter of 799mm, it would be interesting to hear how those work on on the RRS as far as fit and rubbing is concerned.Quote:

Disclaimer: Note this is all based on others reported experience, and there is some variation between tyres and vehicle build. So please do your own due diligence and apply your own acceptance criteria as to what level of compromise you accept.
As an after thought, does anyone know if snow chains will fit on 265/60R18s on a RRS?
Well.... 285/60s fit on Compomotive rims. They are about 1/2" larger profile (from sidewall out and also dia) than the 265/60s. So, if you use a 1/2" chain (15mm or less, low-profile) and you keep the speed down, and don't heavily articulate and limit steering lock, and you are on Compo rims (offset) you might be OK. No idea, but how's that for logic?Quote:

I run 275/65/18 STT Pro with compomotive rims. Looks great and had to do all the trimming etc that Gordon advises. Still slight rubbing on full lock.Quote:
