I think you have those numbers the wrong way around - the dash readout is always optimistic by about 10%. So if your dash readout was 10.4l/100km I would expect the real calculated would be the 12.4l/100km. However if the dash reading was 12.4 then I would expect your real usage would be around 14.

Mine is regularly around 1.2 optimistic. An 8.5 on the dash is a whisker under 10 at the pump.
the hard bit is that my tyre size is out. which puts the trip km's out and the computer calculations.
and ive figured out tonight this cannot be correcting, even by editing the CCF
I've been averaging 16.3 over the last month driving my TDV8 and towing 25 foot caravan to Darwin. Use 5th gear not O/D 6th. I put some Shell Extra diesel in it at Coober Pedy and turned it from a flying machine into a fire breathing flying machine. The difference was so noticeable.

Brickus , that is a sharp looking setup !
2 thumbs up .
ps , my economy ( v6 ) is 9.3 not towing 11.5 towing camper and 12.8 ish ...towing caravan .
however I don’t stress about it - other tow cars - even when not towing regularly saw 20plus !
pps , do the big wheels ,small sidewall tyres give you pause - I have the same at present on my RRS and with the potholes and rubbish roads have ‘ concerns ‘
Regularly hear that 200 Series Cruisers are in the 22's plus fuel economy. But you're right, I don't sweat it, just love driving the car and the fuel economy is a bonus. [biggrin]
That photo with the 22's and low profiles was taken when we did a short run up to Mallacoota in December, 200 kms from home. I was too lazy to change wheels. [bighmmm]
For this trip (12000kms approx.) I've put my 20's and higher profile tyres back on for the same reason you mentioned.

We have just completed 6 week trip from Newcastle to Darwin and back.
2008 TDV8 towing almost 2000 Kg off Road camper
8850 Km Average 17.66l/100Km
traveled at posted speed limits.
Its good to be able to overtake 4 trailer roadtrains with the occasional burst up to 130 in the NT where roads allowed
Something interesting to note in my experience, towing our little Jayco Dove Outback with our MY16 D4, we regularly get about 14-16lt/100. That's up here in the Top End. Down South though, we can knock at least 2lt/100km off of that.
We were at 9.8lt/100 at one stage between Pt Augusta and Adelaide.
These are all maths derived numbers also.
