fuel economy of recent trip, does this look right?

    12,000km
    $2000
    assuming $1.6/l
    1250l of diesel

    car computer indicated 12.4l/100km
    manual calculator is 10.4l/100km

    08 RRS TDV8 pulling 800kg camper
    larger tyres and engine tune.

    does this seem correct?

Yep , TDV8 shouldn't feel 800kgs on the rear, and assume the trailer is the same height or lower than the RRS.

My D3 is prolly more economical at 110 than 90, as it hunts gears at 90 and the revs are from 1400 to 2100 , but@110 it sits on 1400rpm all day

i think the rpm at 110 was closer to 1800rpm.

is there a way to tell what gear im in?

put the foot down and see if the revs drop then you are not in top gear . .... not sure about the TDV8 might have the 8 speed box so you may need to do 115 to get top gear.

My TDV6 with 6 speed settles into top gear towing the camper at about 105km/h and will stay there , drop below that and it starts to hunt gears. I drive by the tacho when towing , not so much the speedo.

you could always put it in sports mode and try changing the gears yourself , that would give you an idea.

Are you looking for better ? or did you expect it to be more ?

Not sure what our camper weighs but would think loaded 1000 - 1200kgs

Standard is about 10.2 ltrs / 100ks with road tyres and no roof rack on highway.

    M/T tyres and roof rack see's me at 13 ltrs / 100ks .

Same car , same camper , remove or change something and the fuel will alter between the 2

    D3 TDV6 6 speed .

    Cheers Ean
