    Problem with tailgate lifter

I have a 2013 L320 with electric tailgate lift. The right hand lifter has started jumping off the body mount.
Clip seems to be not not seated fully. Swapped the clip with one form the bonnet struts now looks better. There are some wear marks on the ball when the strut is off. Looks to be from the locking clip. Has any one had problems with these.

I was thinking the other day that I hadn’t read about problems with an electric tailgate.

I have replaced a broken electric strut. The top mount on the strut fractured where the clip is - as designed I assume when too much force was applied (which it was).

New one from island 4x4 was plug and play.

    1. The clips are very tight and there were wear marks on the ball mount.
    2. There is some clear grease in the ball mount receiver on the new unit.
    3. The old "good strut" doesn't move about on the ball mount - it is all dried out and rigid compared to the new one which can rotate a few degrees.
    4. Ball mount seems pretty strong given it looks fine after the strut broke off.
    5. When removing the tailgate trim, the rectangular metal clips that hold the interior handle to the body needed replacement.
