Range Rover Sport The Effects Of Long Term Sun/UV Exposure

    Hello all

Yay story time. I went to pick up my car from (Brisbane Air Port valet parking) the car has been sitting there for 3 years, Where it's supposed to be driven/moved around once and a while and kept (undercover).
However (Brisbane Air Port valet parking) had neglected to inform me that they have actually been keeping it out in the baking sun (not under cover) for the past 2/3ish years.
Because of that, the state of the car is absolutely devastating, to say the least. Looks far worse in person don't even get me started on the .paint, plastic, and interior the list goes on and on such a shame for a one owner car...

And of course, because of that, it had not been started in the past 3/2ish years at all. So when I went to collect my car I had to jump start it, and it started on the second go no problem, no smoke or anything smooth as butter and revving all good as far as the engine goes at a standstill.

The air suspension has a small leak somewhere in the front right I think it's just a split line. Went for a little drive and about 20 sec into it the dashboard lights up like a Christmas tree, followed by sporadic engine RPM (herky-jerky) above 40kph.
I'm thinking that a lot that has to do with the battery. It's safe to say It needs a new battery because the OEM AGM is absolutely shot after 3/2ish years of sitting. The battery has always been the Achilles heel of the reliability of the car. The only serious problems have been related to the battery so to say it's important is an understatement.

As far as replacement battery's I need it to last as long as possible because the car does sit for long periods of time. Because of this I'm thinking of the Delkor ln5 or Odyssey 49-950 the Odyssey has the highest (CCA) (PHCA) (AH) I have seen for a battery that will fit.

So your input and suggestions/advance on batteries would be a real help

    Thanks, HAZZA

Thanks for your suggestion, you have a valid point but I still need the most CCA in a battery that will fit.

A battery retailer will tell you what battery will fit. I would connect up a 10 w solar panel and leave it on the dash.

    Thank you for your feedback.

I went to a battery retailer yesterday and they told me about the usual 850 CCA AGM nowhere near the 950 CCA of the Odyssey. Connecting a solar panel is a great idea but I don't want the car to be parked outside anymore. Where I plan to park it, undercover there isn't a power outlet. I guess what I'm saying is if anyone has used the Odyssey or a Lead Crysta battery before in a single battery setup to give me feedback/advance.

Fit a battery isolator every time you park it up isolate the battery completely. Then you may have a chance of it retaining charge. You leave it hooked up no trickle charger that will kill any battery as there is always a drain on the battery. A good Odyssey etc should hold charge 6-12 months as long as it’s isolated

If you are not fitting a solar panel charger,, fit a car cover.

oh, and did the tyres survive 3 years of sitting in the one spot?

Had I known the car was outside, I would have fitted a car cover and solar panel.
As far as the tyres are concerned no flat spots just less PSI I don't think there's any dry rot.

Thank you that's a great idea, I will keep that in mind next time I park it.
