Sounds like a split intercooler hose. (The two on the top when you open the bonnet) Replace them with silicone hoses fixes it for good.
Hi folks - just noticed the last couple of days that this RRS is blowing a bit of smoke and I'm sure its a bit less power. I've only had it for a bit over a week and before Friday I didn't notice the smoke and I'm sure it had quite a bit more power.
Its more when putting the foot down a bit but yeah its quite a bit of smoke, the smoke seems the normal black colour though. I was amazed at how quickly the car accelerated before but now its ok but pretty much the same as my BT-50 or maybe not quite as good even.
I don't drive that heavy footed - but just give it a squirt sometimes. But yeah just more testing as it seems different - but when i put the foot down to test its quite a bit of smoke. I do notice a puff in the mirror also just when it changes gears sometimes.
Any ideas on what it might be or where I should start looking? Not sure if its my imagination - but I think I hear a bit of a different noise sometimes when accelerating - not a bad noise - more of a blowing air like noise....
Any help/suggestions appreciated! Its the 3.6l TDV8.

Could also be a cracked intake runner in the valve covers. That can pressurise the valve covers and push oil out everywhere. Ask me how I know... unfortunately your symptoms match what I had. RH valve cover cracked. Boost = massive crankcase pressure build-up. Thankfully I didn't have a seal go and runaway... But it was doughy and blew smoke like rolling coal.
Definitely check the two top intercooler hoses first. You may be lucky (hopefully). I fitted silicone hoses within a week of getting the car despite the factory hoses being only a few thousand kms old. I know the (Leyland Truck) silicone ones won't split. Good luck.

Split intercooler hose (there should be a fault) or stuck EGRs but again should be a fault indication.

hehe yeah no error light.. hmm.. I do have an IIDtool on order.. would it just show on that or would it be a warning light on the dash?
I had a quick look at the hoses this morning before leaving for work and no obvious split but perhaps its a small one.. thanks guys will have a good look.
if its the "cracked intake runner in the valve covers" is that a big job? Anyways will check the hoses properly first... should I still be driving the car or could I possibly damage something? (drove it to work today just taking it easy - still drives quite nice and doesn't blow much smoke if i don't accelerate too hard)
Clogged fuel filter?
Just a guess.
Cheers mate it was just that - much relieved The right one (as you're looking from the front) has a big split underneath it near the engine. I've put some silicon tape on it but there is quite a whistle now as some air seems to get through it when I put the foot down - it was quite a big split. But yeah no smoke now and good power Hey is it normal for there to be a little bit of oil inside these hoses?
Would anyone know who sells the silicone hoses? I had a bit of a google without much luck. Found a few non silicon ones...

Good outcome!!! I would honestly buy a pair of new genuine ones, they are cheap enough and at least the correct shape. They also last quite a long time!
