The dealer will not do the windscreen themselves - they will just sub contract it out - most likely to O'Briens.
Once you have a non genuine screen you will only be able to get non genuine screens fitted at a later date with an insurance claim. If it has a genuine screen you can always ensure the insurance company uses a genuine screen.
Now in your specific case here with no insurance - I guess the choice is yours - I have heard some of the knockoffs have imperfections and cause distortions.
There is another option and you did not hear it from me. You could wait until you insurance renews and take out windscreen cover, leave it a few months and then claim a new screen. O'briens to everything and in many cases you do not even need to contact your insurance company. But you didn't hear that from me.
