    REPLACING THE ENGINE - 3LT TDV6

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone out there has replaced there 3LT TDV6 for a RRS 2009-2012
or Disco 3/4 through the crank issue lately. I am in that position and was looking for the best solution.
Many say replace with a second hand engine but these engines are now over 100k kms. and still big money.
Next issue do you trust a reconditioned engine with new crank (after market supposedly hardened and improved).
There must be a best case solution out there somewhere as the cost is like a house down payment and can't
be insured (this is the second time around for the same vehicle) - I hate those cranks.

Is a new, latest model engine too expensive?

Good question Graeme . Will a later model TDV6 or SDV6 fit my car using the appropriate running gear.
this is the type of thing I am asking for, Has someone come up with a solution using any and all outcomes.
I know it will cost over $10k for a later model engine -(0-50k kms) but I still do not know if it will fit.
Then there is the change over cost. The reco option is actually cheaper but not reliable.

More than 1 person has ended-up with a much higher performance engine (possibly 225 kw) in their D4 when LR replaced the engine under warranty.

I'd contact LR specialist workshops to see what they can tell you.

You could keep an eye out for one at a damaged vehicle auction. Go there and bid against the wreckers and backyard dealers. Might snag a bargain. Then sell off the remains.

Have already been there and found a sweet deal (just to find out the car had been under water - the salty kind).
Also talked to others and found insurance actions are not all what is thought. Guys have changed engines and then
auctioned with the blown motor in it after doing what we are thinking. It is a wicked web we weave.
