    L320 RRS, 2006-2011, HK Logic7 Surround Retrofit

    Here's a few pictures of the retrofit to Logic7 Surround from the regular Harman Kardon system, it's pretty much the same for the L320 up to 2011MY, also the Disco 3 and Disco 4 up to 2011MY.

    600W Harman Kardon;
    9 speakers
    6 channels (2 ch. to sub, single ch. to each door)

    1200W Harman Kardon Logic7
    14 speakers
    11 channels (2 ch. sub, 2 ch. to each front door, single ch. to each rear door, 2 rear surround ch., 1 centre surround ch.)

    So we need to add the centre dash speaker, rear surround speakers, and the midrange speakers to the front doors.
    The front doors are a bit of a challenge, as we need to add a pair of wires for the extra channel, re-route the existing wiring in the door.
    AND worst of all, when the door cards were produced, the speakers should have been welded in and sandwiched between the two panels.
    This means if you want to add speakers, or replace a blown factory one, the door card has to be "unstitched" and welded back together again afterwards...

    Fun fun fun!

    The existing wiring to the bass speaker transferred to the new midrange

    And then a new pair run to the bass speaker.

    New wiring for the rear surrounds;

    Cut holes and mount rear surrounds;

    With the grilles in place you'd never know; (they did get a clean after this pic taken)

    Centre dash speaker;

    New wiring run;

    Five new speakers, five new pairs of wires...

    Crimp and populate;

    Factory wiring;

    Retrofit wiring;

    Finished it off with Logic7 badges

    Original audio settings;

    With added Logic7

    After all that, it sounds great! Huge improvement over the standard HK.

    And actually, to make the Logic7 install 100% as per the factory, all of the speakers are different; the four bass speakers, four tweeters, and the subwoofer.
    But for this car we didn't change any of them, just added the five new ones.

    For the costs of all the other speakers, it was hard to justify... but this sounds so much better now, even without changing out all the others.

    This car had previously gotten the DAB+ retrofit;

    Now with DAB+ and Logic7, radio never sounded so good.

    This is a 2011MY L320 RRS, but it's pretty much the same for all L320's up to 2011MY.

    With the L319 D4 2010-2011, the same process is required for the front doors.

    With the L319 D3 up to 2009 you will need replacement front door cards, because the midrange grilles are missing and I don't see any way to add them, can't buy the grilles, and aftermarket ones won't look right.

    But of course with the Disco 3/4 the rear surrounds are much easier, just swapping the D-Pillars, instead of cutting into the roof lining.

    The 2012-onward L320 and L319 already have the front door midranges installed, so a lot less work involved.

    And I assume this still doesn't work for the 2010/11 319 with the poverty pack radio?

    Thanks!

    The labour is the biggest part of the costs for this model.

    You could get lucky with amp, speakers & grilles for under $500 from wrecks, eBay, etc but I would normally budget double that.
    The additional wiring harness' ~$220 to make
    But there's a good 10 hours to install everything, and most of that time is in the roof lining.

    That's in the 2012-2013 L320 which already has the front door speakers, the earlier models with the door speakers you can add 2-3hrs per door, plus the cost of the speakers, wiring, etc...

    With a 2012-onward Disco4 the installation would be all done in about 4hrs, but you will be paying more for the D-Pillar trims, swings & roundabouts...

    Sadly no, this is just adding to the existing HI-ICE system, the LoLine system is a totally different problem...

    Hi Cambo,
    I'm digging up this topic because I'm very interested in installing Logic 7 and Dab+.
    My car is a 2012 RRS, so I have the 11 hp.
    I have searched but can't find the amplifier part number for 2012 so different from 2006>2011;
    according to you, I would therefore need the 2 rear speakers and the one on the dashboard.
    Do you know if the cables are present at the front and at the back or if I should install them?
    The amplifier is in the right rear fender on the 2012, so the new one will be in the same location?
    And of course I should modify the CCF, is this possible with a nanocom?
    For information:
    I am in France
    I have already installed a Carplay interface and aftermarket rear screens.
    Regards
