    Rocker cover gaskets.

G'Day all . What seemed to be a fairly straightforward job has turned into a bit of a disaster. Taken my tdv6 to my mechanic to replace rocker cover gaskets as right side was leaking onto manifold and smelt awful. Anyway he has managed to free the injectors and so on, but now tells me the body needs to come off to get to rear bolts of cover (I think) and injector pump cover and rear plate if that makes sense. Will take a trip down later this week but seems over the top for rocker gaskets.
Anyone been there done that. ?
    Regards Pas

I wouldn't be at all surprised. I helped do a body off some years back It was surprisingly quick to do.

    2.7 or 3.0?
both can be done with body on , 3.0 is a bitch and the rh is the more difficult because of the extra brackets but I don't remember removing any rear plate or injector pump cover , if it is the 3.0 you might want to consider replacing the rocker cover with the updated one as it is only a matter of time before the original will crack

2.7 thanks for the info. I'll be at the mechanics monday morning to remove bumpers and so forth in prep for body off. The mechanic tells me he has spent 4 hrs on it . Came across 2 seized injectors and inj pump del pipe to r/rail would release from the pump fitting. Tells me 2 rear bolts on l/h rocker dont have enough room to come out. Or something along those lines anyway. Funny thing was , when he ordered the gaskets the guy there said "oh body off " and replied no ,to that he said "good luck " . I think it will be a good learning curve for both of us. Pump belt is due in 40k so kill 5 birds with one hoist eh.!

Definitely easier with body off, if you have pre 07 it's easier to do the fuel filter as well as rear sway bar bushes

Well spent good part of 4 hrs removing and unplugging and disconnecting things on the RRS today. I must say I am a little bit excited. Dont know if its because the body comes off in the morning or that I got to work with a vehicle hoist for once. Update and pics murro.Rocker cover gaskets.Rocker cover gaskets. Rocker cover gaskets.

Well. Today I made my mechanics day ,by giving him all the room he needs to work on my rocker covers . I think he wont think twice about body off to work on these . This RRS was originally from QLD (till 2013)so I emailed the dealer for service records. They were kind enough to email them through. Lots of items replaced. Sunroof. Complete fuel system even wiring repairs due to rodent damage. Today I removed the injector pump belt cover crikey. Mouse poo. In here.!

Ha. The mechanic has chocked all 4 wheels and said to others " If anyone moves this chassis I will ******* kill em ".
What's he worried about, I was the one that took it off, I guess I will be bolting it back on . Jokes aside Top bloke to work with .
