Kids seats in RRS vs Disco 3

    Hi Team,

I'm looking at upgrading my wife's 04 Prado to a RRS somewhere between 06-10. We've already got an 05 LR3 that perfectly fits 2 kids seats and a booster across the back row. Does the RRS have the same size middle seat as the LR3? Has anyone done 3 kids seats across the back?

    Matt

I fit 3 child seats in 2012 RRS - it was a very tight fit. It wouldn't work with some of the wider child seats available.

The RRS rear seat isn't flat which doesn't help and the head rests need to be turned around so the child seat could recline properly. My old Amarok was by far the best car for fitting child seats.

I thought that the L320 was narrower than the D3, so it'd be harder to fit.

Thanks I just had a look at one today locally. The middle head rest is able to come out all the way then? I couldn't get the booster seat flat against the back

All three rear head restraints are not removable, however when fully extended the actual headrest can be pushed back against its two supports so the headrest is now in line with the seat back - not sticking out as it is in the down position.

I find it impossible to sit in the back seats with the headrests down as they stick into your shoulder blades but when all is good except for the driver as the headrests do then restrict rear vision a bit.

With the headrests fully extended you should have no trouble with a baby seat.

I can't remember what I did with the centre headrest sorry. I've since sold my RRS and gone back to a dual cab ute with a canopy for throwing bikes and all that comes with small children.

Its also more reliable being a Toyota - it wasn't much fun being suck on the side of the road trying to solve land rover problems with hungry/tired/upset children in the back seat.

    .
Agree on the centre head restraint - either you can't see or you generally leave it down as I do.

They all come off though, there is a little button to release from memory. I have two removed for child seats now.

I certainly cannot get mine out but I really did not pull on them - the button on mine allows them to be moved up and down and when the button is released it holds the head rests in the required position.

I cannot see how anyone can sit in the back seats with the headrests down as they are extremely hard on the middle of the upper back.

    .
I just checked for my sanity. If you are looking from the rear - at the passenger side rear headrest. The height button is on the outside of the right side pole. The release to go further is flush on the outside of the left side pole, not visible but you can feel it - push in. Not terrible intuitive but when I was fiddling, I noticed it was being held back on the left and went looking....

Thanks so much for doing that! The only decision now is between a 06 with low kms vs a 3.0 2011 with medium kms
