    20" to 19" Rim & Tyre Downsize Upgrade - Cooper ATT 255/55/19

The roads are bad and we live on an unsealed road, so upgrading the factory low profile tyres was always part of the plan in buying a rrs. Had been planning on 18" tough ant kimberley's, but they are sold for a bit and needed new tyres, so picked up some used disco 19" rims with the idea that it would give a bigger tyre diameter option than 20".

I found out though that in practice theres actually more options for large tyres in a 20" than 19" , so it would be easier and cheaper to go a bit bigger on 20"

2 good things about going 19" though is that I got a set of 5 so I now have a full speed spare, and the rim is 8" wide rather than 9.5" so the rims are protected more. I think the smaller rims and bigger tyre wall also looks better.

Below is before and above is after. Tyres on special for $300 each from goodyear.
