LED Headlight Globe Recommendations - RRS/D3

My 2007 RRS was originally fitted with halogen lights rather than Bi-Xenons.

10 years ago, after a bit of controversial discussion on here about blinding people etc I fitted 55w HIDs for my low beams and high beams. They just plugged straight in and worked. The low beams worked great but it took too long for the HIDs to light up in the high beams so for Hi beam I went back to halogens. 10 years later these are all still working well with only one ballast failing for which I had a replacement. The HIDs dont seem to have dulled but then I may not have noticed to subtle changes.

Well 10 years on LED technology has jumped leaps and bounds and I think I would like to change the globes etc to LEDs. Ideally I would like to have Hi/Low (so a shuttered globe) in the current low beam slot (the projector lens) and a single LED in the hi beam filler light.

So who has changed to LEDs all round, what kits, equipment did you use (approx costs), issues etc

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    What globe type?

2 days ago I bought a pair of H4 LED globes for my harvest truck's Cibie headlights on the basis that anything has to be better than the halogens, but I won't know if they're any good for a couple of weeks yet.

Mmmm 2000 watts or 166 amps out of 12 volts.
I hope it's got good wiring.

The wiring will cope with the made-up specs of ebay products.

I can confirm that my H4 LED globes are indeed H4, they have high and low beam which stays illuminated on high beam. I can't exactly confirm their out of this world brightness though.

Now that we have worked out what globes to put in tractors has anybody actually changed the halogens in their D3/RRS to LEDS and particularly put in a high low beam globe where the normal low beam halogen globe goes in the projector lens.

    Garry,

Confirming: your RRS has only Filament type lighting?
Not factory HID in the main?

If so, it’s no different to a base spec D4 and yes, I know someone who did a LED fitment.

Both are single beam units, not High/Low as there’s no function to switch to high in the main lamp.

Yes all halogen globes. Some LEDs come withe the ability to switch between hi and low - done by the globe not a shutter like in the Bi Xenon system.

Looking for someone who has done it to save me making mistakes.

If a twin beam LED globe exists with the same base (eg H7) as your low beam halogen then you would only have to provide high beam power. However I don't expect that a twin beam globe exists for a base that only provides for 1 beam. Anyway I expect that the projector headlights are designed for a single beam, not dual beams.

BTW I've ordered a pair of Pro150 halogens for my truck as I don't like the cheap LED low-beam cut-off.
