It's due for rego on the 5th Feb. If it doesn't sell by then I will buy it off my son for the wife, she only does 1 trip a week into town (about 50 ks return plus a bit of running around while she is in there). A dose of aulumAseal would stop the leak for years. She would feel like Flash Harriet and her little Corolla station wagon would be easy to sell.

Well the rego has been paid and I am going to have another go at replacing the thermostat housing. I have found instructions to get the plenum off which is as far as I got last time, but at least I won't have the worries about not been able to get it all back together. the egrs have been turned off and I found blanking plates at the end of the coolers so I am going to see how easy it is to bypass these as I gather they are also known to leak. I bypassed the egr cooler on my bt50 after having the egr turned off without any problems arising.

honestly thats the best thing to do. it doesnt strike me as a hard to access job, which is often the biggest issue you might hit with modern cars. its great if you can take your time and dont have like a 1 day deadline :) youll find the more you take off the easier its gets [bigrolf]
Well I had another go at it and got it done. It was very fiddly but I put 3 camping tables end to end and put every part in line and after many hassles getting the rear hoses fitted was able to get it all back together. No leaks. Anyway halfway through the job I got a call from the gumtree ad from a guy not to far away and he came out after I had finished and bought it, so while I am sad to see it go I hope he gets a good run out of it.

I've been meaning to say, do the valve cover gaskets while at it. Well done on getting it done.
I thought about it but one nightmare at a time is enough for me. The guy buying it is an ex mechanic so he would find it a lot easier than me if he decides to do it.Quote:
