What value are you putting on the 3 years free servicing? I reckon that's worth about $2K. My last service (120,000Km) was $580.

How much do you reckon a new RRS will depreciate in 3 years? I have a fair idea of the new prices and 3 y.o. values, so let's say a $120K car new is worth $60K secondhand after 3 years (RedBook value on a 2006 TDV6 is $54K - $60K), then you've done $60K. Makes the free servicing seem pretty insignificant. However, you are getting 3 years of warranty in the $120K price....

Anyway, if you can get the new one I say go for it and just try not to think about the depreciation. I solved that problem by getting one that still had 2 years of factory warranty on it, and I got my company to buy the car, so they cop the loss. Remember that anything over $57800 is not tax deductible, and that includes the GST that you can't claim back over that amount

I drove both RRS units this morning and without a doubt, the TDV8 left me giddy, whilst the TDV6 wasn't all too different from the beema...

Now it's just a case of convincing myself that an extra $20K is manageable

I reckon the D3 body style is one of the classic styling exercises in motor car history - right up there with the RRC and the Jaguar XJ6/ 12 of the early 70s. It is just a class expression of clean lines that also have excellent functionality.

It is also a very good car. The designers thought it through and came up with an excellent package that picks up and develops all the major themes that are important. from chassis design to suspension to four wheel drive/ offroad ability to onroad comfort and handling to a brilliant use of space. it is a brilliant car that deserves all of trhe accolades and awards that it has got.

No doubt like any other machine it has its problems, but that takes nothing away from its brilliance. I reckon its one of the seminal cars of motor car history!

The only problem is that I can't afford one! It would make an absolutely superb family car for us! But I'm happy with my P38a.

Actually it's more like a Renault/FIAT van that grew a nose, windows and door handles.
