My Td6 had the factory Goodyears and these blocked and became very noisy. I fitted Pirelli Scorpion Zeros and these also blocked and became noisy but lasted longer than Goodyears. Now on Conti Supercontact and all quiet. in June fitted two new on front.
Since this is still going my conti HT's are now getting quite cut up as I've been doing allot of dirt/rock driving,they are still very quiet and have boatloads of grip but I've had three puntures through the tread so I'm going to go the harder A/T type for my next set.I might even switch to michy's as I like both makes. Just bought some 18s with goodyear wranglers (original) but may go the Pirelli ATR as I have them on the Disco and are great. Will look at the contis too
Anyone have the Michelin Latitude Tour HP? I fitted these to my D2 and after 106000km they still drive perfectly - very quite, no balance issues, still plenty of wet grip, admittedly they are now end of life.
My L322 has Coopers fitted by previous owner (as did my D2 when purchased). I can say they are the worst tyres I’ve ever driven on - so they must go.
Thinking Michelin (at $460 ea) but also Continental has been suggested. Wondering if the extra $ is the go…

At 100k the shocks need replacing as well as a whole heap of other chassis brake and running gear components.
You guys must be ex Volvo drivers pussyfooting around and driving on straight smooth glass roads with no hills and no curves! And in that case you'd be better of driving a Volvo rather than a 2½-3 tonne truck.:twisted:
Anyway if you're talking abaout a solid axle D2 then it's a whole different ball game compared to the IS on the D3, D4, RRS and L322 trucks.
I drive about 85k per annum and never get anymore than about 25 - 30k out of any tyres irrespective of their price and/or quality.
In fact taking all factors into consideration I've found that the cheapest tyres work out better as you get more frequent balance, good tread depth and less punctures overall.
No I'm not - we dug out receipts when trying to work it out - I thought it was about 80 and couldn’t believe they have gone that far... Granted that is 16" wheels on a D2 and I am aware that I won't see any where near that mileage with low profiles on the L322.Quote:

100k out of the original Michelin 205R16s used to be quite common on the Classic Range Rovers & D1s so I could well believe it on a well driven D2 also.
I still own a couple of classics as well as a D2, owned a P38 for 100k and now an L322 for 150k. I also owned/drove various Pajeros and an 80s LC for 300k.Quote:

Michelin tyres do get the miles,I've had three sets of them.I do agree about the rest of it,my brakes are at minimum thickness for both pads and disc's,I've ordered a new set at $650 for disc's and pads.It can go on the $1400 I just paid for new caliper bush's,rear wishbone bush's a new blinker assembley that I shattered hitting a duck at 120 and getting the tranny flushed five times and refilled.It still needs a wheel alignment and I'm pulling the rad out to get it rodded and new hoses,belts and the Tdi needs a new cam belt.I need some overtime.
