What gearbos are you talking about?
LT95 takes 3.1l of engine oil.
Just thought I'd post a quick thread on transfer cases - I was chatting to the guy who rebuilt my trannie - I've been doing that a lot lately... Anyway, he also mentioned that he sees quite a few Rangies & BMW's that come in with transfer case issues. I all these cases, he says the oil in them is black and stuffed. A new transfer case will set you back $4K, and individual parts are not available for them.
They only take about a litre of oil, and it is a very easy job to do - It will be on top of my list once I get mine back (tomorrow I think)
It would probably pay to do the diffs as well I would think. Not sure off the top of my head what oil they take - I'll look it up now I think...
Cheers - Gav

I think it is the NV225? Same as what's in the early BMW X5's. Can't find exact data at the moment on what type of oil, but it only takes a litre of it.

Ah, yes!
Type of oil is important.
Gearbox? Must be gear oil I thought.
It did drive quite a few kilometres before the shims burnt. The transfer case now has the gears in tapered roller bearings.
Gear oil stinks as well. Ten years later I can still smell the gear oil every time I drain the transfer case.
Ok. You can all just stop laughing now. Stop it. No, seriously, stop.
Hi Gav

My only question is, you're talking to the guy who rebuilt your tfr who is the same person who says parts aren't available. How's he rebuilding it?
