That's what I'm using now. I should explain, I'm not exactly just "taking a dip", I am Kiting (often in the surf), and with regular impacts that can break ribs (not yet touch wood but close several times), I don't trust the bags or boxes long term. Several guys have had them leak after a big crash.

programing the keys isnt that hard , you need one of these tools but there are many others you can use for a fair price

Ive ordered this tool and will post back results , if successful i will offer the service in the perth area.

I'm involved in several wet sports & after looking at the cost of replacements, I bought a blank key from a Ebay supplier.
The key has the blade & the Body but no electronics at all.

I leave the proper key inside & just use the manual entry via the passengers door.

EDIT - if the above programmer would work, and this key from Flea bay - LAND RANGE ROVER 3 BUTTON L322 VOGUE HSE REMOTE KEY 433MHZ + CHIP FULL KEY FOB | eBay - is the 433MHZ unit the one we need?

And $35 to cut it, all in it would cost me about $300 for 1 key - half the price of the stealers. Add to that if anyone else wanted to get another done cheaply and wanted to chip in $10 to borrow the programmer...:angel: it would help offset the cost a bit...

Gav I bought one of those keys as my electronics had packed up.
I just swapped out the pc board and put it in my key. I still had the rfid. The replacement electronics have proper little push switches not the silly carbon track of the original. If I can get it reprogrammed it also came with a rfid.

But the suggestion to get a blank and cut it sounds the cheapest for a wet key. I have a few left when I got new keys cut that are perfect for wet key use.
The master key is a black plastic key that is not recommended to use often.

The new key now works in the door lock. I followed the key synchronisation procedure and now I have two keys that can open or lock the doors and cancel the alarm via remote, but still only one that will start the car:mad:.

9GBP sounds good for a shell that will get you out of most grief AND you won't need to worry about it getting wet!!:D

They are available from a Chinese online store.

I suspect our market requires the 400 mhz chip whilst USA uses the 300 mhz variety - someone with better knowledge will be able to confirm.

I got one with my L322. It appears to be plastic. I don't know if there is an RFID inside. It does open the car and start it. When the door is opened the alarm sounds but it turns off when the car is started.
