I have a 2002 TD6 with its original gearbox with 230k on the odometer, I haven't noticed any problems is it feasible or wise to upgrade the torque converter only. Most people seem to have full gearbox rebuilds.
thanks for your advice.
Hey JSP..... RE HUNTING Mine did this until I blanked the EGR valve. Will now lock up as low as 40km on the flat. Jim

My TD6 has 187km on the clock and the gearbox seems to be fine ( touch wood ) I have been looking at an ecotuning for the auto transmission which II have been reading helps the auto lock up early and less stress on the TC + I would not mind putting in a stronger TC.
Do they have to strip the whole transmission down to put the stronger TC (3 plate clutch setup, giving a minimum 300% increase in holding torque, and a input torque rating of over 500 lb/ft. ) if so I presume it would be the time to get all the sonnax gear added to your transmission.

I phoned the TC shop to ask about the upgraded TC, they had no idiea what I was talking about but the person I was talking too asked me were I had heard about the upgraded TC so I told him to look at Aulro forum L322,so hopefully he has a look and does come up with a stronger TC.
Declan.
That's for the idea but alas I wish that was my issue.
My car is booked in for some sort of carbon clutch upgraded torque converter to be fitted at TRS in a few weeks, provided the sump is reasonably clean when they drop it.
back to driving my tired P38, which I put up for sale and have all these wacko's asking stupid questions about

This has been a very helpful thread for me.

You are only young once Mr Wood....Just find a way, the trans will give a bit of warning, if the test drive is good, then you only need to start putting away a pineapple a week for a couple of years and the trans will be nearly paid for
These ARE a nice ride, and very exclusive for your neck of the woods, too
