    If the L322 auto boxes are a problem how about fit a 6 or 8 speed auto box from an Amarok? Jim

    Probably for the same reason nothing else has been made to work, and that's the electronics, but do those boxes have an entirely independent ECU? Then you have to make it physically fit, and then would be the cost I would think - I would imagine they are quite an expensive item.

    OK,
    The 5L50E transfusion is closing.
    Admittedly I had to use the 5L40E epicyclic gear set ( minimal differance really)/output shaft, but it's in the 5l50E new case ( same as 5L40e) with heavier clutch packs, sprag clutches same, new 5L50E valve block. Big deal, filler/level plug in different position!
    Heavier duty/lower stall speed torque converter, making a heavier 4mm spring steel drive flex plate ( my 2mm original was cracked right across, but still driving!)

    Just need the time to install!

    I admit it was a gamble to buy a brand new 5L50E box and that all would work, but now confident it will; no reason NOT to.

    If ever a "next time" I'd definitely look into a 6 speeder and its associated electronics.
