After looking around i stuck with RACQ with my new Defender, about 550 from memory.
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

Im currently with RACQ which costs $1200+.

    thanks.
    What year is yours?

I'm still with GOI, but had to haggle the price this year as you do from time to time. They dropped the value to $29,500 but wanted to keep my premiums the same.

I talked them down $180 to just over $800
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

Well I can now report that the rubber has hit the road, and I've had to make an insurance claim.
The good news is...APIA were brilliant. No quibbles, all sorted in a single phone call, and they were happy to have the car repaired by the only repair shop in WA that's authorised by LRA to maintain new car warranty. Excess for any future claims only went up by $150.

Repair job was absolutely spot on too, Lombardi Brothers in Bentley.

I ended up with Youi, which were about $200 cheaper.

I have a couple more years before I qualify for APIA.

Me too im with Youi $570 a year 65% no claim bonus. 2 nomimated over 45 year old drivers myself & wife. With my Daughter over 30 as occasional short distance driver. Garaged off street parking with good Postcode (low crime area).
They were cheaper by a long shot with $500 excess. You do have to shop around i was with SGIO for years but they could not match Youi on the L322.
As i found with the yacht the real litmus test for any insurance company is when you claim. SGIO were the best at helping out with claims especially when we were robbed. Only had a 1 car claim when the wife rubbed a post in the Camry & it was handeled well & very quicly. If you want a hire car while yours is being repaired expect to pay lots more . Also read reviews people leave on the Webb. I almost went for that totaly on line company with the funny girl add but the reviews scarred me off them. Very difficult to claim same with APIA who are really just AAMI under a different name. Yeah they will chat rubbish over the phone but the reviews tell a different story when you want to claim and use a good top class repairer.

We just went through the Claims process with Youi for our house - water ingress / home and contents damage etc as a result of the recent heavy rains assocaited with Cyclone Marcia. Youi were excellent - couldn't fault them. We moved to Youi on Price after years with Allianz. Contents claim processed within 10 days with cash in our account within 14 days. The building repairs quote was accepted and work starts next week. Very happy with Youi!!

You cant go wrong with Lombardi Bros they did our D2 after the big hail storm a few years back a $ 13,500 paint job had the TD5 looking better than brand new. I still dont understand why they didnt write it off.
