    TD6 Fan control

My 2003 TD6 has a fault in the electronically controlled engine fan.
My FAULTMATE diagnostic tool identifies the fault as "Engine Fan Control Malfunction".
My research tell me that this could be the Cooling Fan Electronic Control Unit (ECU) that is mounted beside the radiator on R/H side or the temperature sensor that sends a signal to it. Namely the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor mounted at the rear of the cylinder head.
This sends a signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM) which in turns sends a signal to the engine fan ECU.

I prefer not to have to purchase both the Fan ECU and the temperature sensor and wonder if anyone has had this issue and what the fix was.

All input will be received with thanks.

Hi, I would think it is more likely to be the aux fan motor at fault as this is fairly common on these. the sensors and control unit rarely give trouble but the fan motor or more likely the controller inside it usually fails.
