    l322 drivers side door arm rest.

    H
    Has anyone had the drivers side arm rest replaced upholstered/repaired/refilled?
    I have a 2002 l322 and the arm rest has wrinkled. I believe it is/was a common fault. I have been told that the only way it can be fixed is to buy a new door card at a cost of around $400/500 from the UK.
    I have tried to get a quote from a number of LR dealers in Newcastle/Sydney but to no avail. They just don't answer my emails.

    Thanks,

    Dave

    Hi Dave, I had the same problem with my 02, while I am not aware of any way of repairing the arm rest, I did manage to import the whole door card (second hand on ebay US) for about $300, being the passenger door it was in excellent cond. This was about a year ago before the ex rate fell ! I would look in US and Europe as better chance of getting a good one off a passenger door. The changeover is pretty simple - there is a U tube on it.

    I've 2003 HSE and it had wrinkly door arm rests, front and back.
    Ivory colour-- same as main card colour.
    Had a local auto upholstery guy, Toowoomba, do all 4 in a greenish/grey vinyl- similar to that at bottom of card. he did all 4 for $300 folding.
    I just took in the cards-- he dismantled and rewelded armrests back on.
    I then put the walnut trim on and all looks great;

    Thanks Peter, I had a quote from a company in England and the door card was $150 Au,
    However, the postage was just on $300 Au. They actually phoned me to apologize - incredible.
    Needless to say I didn't go ahead. Just more money than I can afford for a cosmetic problem.
    Thanks mate.

    Thanks mate, and if I were closer I would certainly pay a visit. Have been to a couple of blokes here in Newcastle but they say it can't be done. But will keep trying. Might be lucky to find someone as you did.
    Cheers,

    Dave
