    L322 roof tray

    Hey guys/Girls

what types of roof trays do you have on your RR? i was looking at getting one soon and almost fell off my chair when i was told how much a LR genuine one was, the "expedition" ones suit the lines of the car and look amazing i just cant justify that amount on a roof tray

I use a triple vortex bar Rhino rack permanently bolted in to the roof fittings and slide the tray in when I need it ( because my garage door is too blimmin low

    Rhino Rack

Bolts straight into the roof screws - just have to have the installer put the Rhino feet on the right spots on the Rack, then its DIY from there.

Easy to get on and off too.

Looks good. Can you fix an awning to it?

I haven't tried yet, but I certainly think so.
Looks like there's heaps of room on the side rails.

I'm planning to as soon as I can afford it.
Got mine installed by Roof Racks Galore, Kedron, Bris.

Not sure why you would use an installer to fit the feet ? i did mine and it takes seconds per foot but if they do it for free i suppose go for it .

I bought the Land Rover Expedition rack a few months ago for $1500 in Melbourne from a Land Rover dealer.
I really like it, screws straight into the factory mounts in the roof with 6 screws.

I fitted a Rhino Pioneer Platform today. I had Vortex bars on RLCP legs so transferred the legs to the platform

Rhino don't list a kit for the L322 or the dimensions of where to fit things so it was a bit time-consuming with the tape measure.

I picked up a secondhand platform from the AULRO Markets last week.

    So what is needed?

Pioneer platform I'm using a 42102B Pioneer Platform - #42102B | Rhino-Rack. Size 1928 x 1236. My thanks to Lucas (irondoc) for putting this in the AULRO Markets.

3 RLCP legs and feet for the L322. The legs are all the same as are the front and rear feet. The middle feet are shorter. The feet (pads) are part nos. M166, M167, and M168 (two of each required).

Because of the taper in the roof line, the leg spacing is wider at the front so one needs some leg height spacers to clear the bolts in the platform

3 packs of Pioneer Leg Height Spacers PLHSPAIR Pioneer Leg Height Spacer - #PLHSPAIR | Rhino-Rack

(I only bought 2 packs as I had some other Rhino leg spacers.

6 off 6mm x 40mm SS bolts to replace the 30mm bolts that were with the RLCP legs.

I had to drill new holes for the crossbars to match the fore-aft hole spacing of the L322, i.e., 750mm front to middle, 850mm middle to rear.

I fitted the RLCP legs with the spacers and set the approximately the right width apart but left them slightly loose on the crossbars

My neighbour and I lifted it on and dropped it on the feet. I was pretty much spot on. It only need a little jiggling to sit it correctly. Getting the screws catch and screw in was a bitch, though.

These pics will do for now, I might take some better ones tomorrow.

Spacers. Note that one pair has to have the end opened up to clear a bolt holding the crossbar.

Looks great Ron. I have no idea how this rack attaches to the L322.
